Our quality framework: investing in real impact. At ORCA, we believe that carbon offsetting only has value if it truly contributes to structural climate solutions. That is why we apply a strict quality framework that goes beyond certification alone. Our projects are certified under leading standards such as VCS, Gold Standard, Puro Earth, and the Dutch National Carbon Market Foundation. But that is just the beginning. Every project also undergoes a due diligence process conducted by ORCA - a process that fewer than 10% of available projects pass. In this process, we assess, among other things:
Project documentation and methodology
We assess whether the project plan is clear, well-substantiated, and technically sound, and whether the applied methodology meets international standards.
Core Carbon Principles by the ICVCM
We evaluate whether the project aligns with the fundamental principles for high-quality carbon credits, such as additionality, measurability, and permanent impact.
Monitoring and verification
We check whether the CO2 reduction is measured accurately, reported transparently, and independently verified by recognized third parties.
External ratings
We involve independent assessments from specialized agencies that focus on evaluating climate projects. This allows us to objectively estimate the quality and risks of each project.
Media and reputation research
We investigate how the project and the parties involved are portrayed in the media, in order to identify potential integrity risks at an early stage.
